Here is a Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in "Angelic Nude," which has been a go-to lipstick ever since I purchased it. Not only did I really like the color, the price wasn't that bad either. I bought it at Sephora for $16 (plus tax), which turned out to be a great buy.
I love how it applies so well, but it's not a strong color that would make me feel uncomfortable wearing it. It's a nude color with some pink in it, which I think is a great color for my own skin color. If you're kind of on the paler side, I would say this color is a great color for you. I also like to wear my "The Faceshop Aqua Tint" in red first, and then take this lipstick to wear on top of it to give more of a gradient kind of a look that is very natural in its change and gives a little more color. I do hope to go back to Sephora and get some of their other colors, like the "Pink Peony" and a few others.
Another lip product was added to my collection just this past weekend. It is a super new item at our shop, as "Over Girl Lip Crayon" in the color "BE01." I know that it looks super orange in the picture, but it's actually a similar tone to the Tarte lipstick shown above, but a little darker. I absolutely love the way it applies to my lips and it doesn't seem to dry out my lips like most lipstick does. This is $16 at The Faceshop, which is the same price as the Tarte one. It also comes in 10 different colors: 3 kinds of pink, 2 kinds of red, 3 kinds of orange, 1 kind of purple, and 1 kind of beige. They are great colors and definitely a wide range of colors for all kinds of customers to be able to find one that they like. If you're looking for a creamy lip product, I would totally recommend you to check it out.
Moving on to the eyes, I recently purchased this single eyeshadow from The Amore store inside of the Vermont Galleria market building. I was checking out the place one morning after a quick grocery shopping, and this color really stood out to me and ended up getting it. If I remember correctly, it was $6, which is cheaper than the $8 that we charge at The Faceshop, and I feel like this color is prettier than most of the colors we had at the time, I went for it.
I'm not the most adventurous kind of a girl, but this was one of those moments where I wanted to try out a completely new brand/line of makeup.
Here is a mascara (with a lip&eye make up remover as a sample) that I picked up at the Annual Korean Festival over this past weekend for $5. I've heard of Tony Moly makeup (it's a Korean brand) but I've never owned any of my own from here before I picked this one up. I only got it because it was $5; I have other mascaras that I'm using at the moment so I wouldn't have bought it if it was more than $5. For the price I paid, it's not bad. It definitely doesn't do the volume and the curling that well like it's supposed to, but I think it's an okay product. I have a hard time using drugstore mascaras now because of their strong scent of the formula, but this one doesn't have a strong smell so that was a good thing about this. I have yet to try the lip & eye makeup remover sample that came with it, but it looks like it'll erase well.
For those of you guys who know me and know the way I like to wear my makeup, you also know that I like to wear falsies. I definitely have "phases" with my falsies, because sometimes I'm just too lazy or I feel like it's too much makeup for a day of non-interesting events. I also tend to not like wearing crazy long and super noticeable falsies, because I like making my eyes look somewhat natural. I have had many compliments for the way I wear my falsies, and I can share what I do with you some time.
So I actually have been using a drugstore eyelash glue-- one from Revlon. I have used a black one for the longest time after seeing my makeup artist friend, Kristie Park, use a black one. Also, unlike the picture above, I used one that had a brush tip. I found it to be super convenient to use the brush tip ones, because you can control the amount of glue that goes on your lashes really well. After using a couple of the black ones, I decided to try a white one. When I do wear falsies, I tend to wear thicker/fuller eyeliner. And there are a couple of times when I tried drawing thinner eyeliner but wear falsies, and if the black glue got on a part of my eyelid that wasn't colored in with my eyeliner, it would be such a pain in the butt to fix that. I just came to a late realization that if I use a white glue, that wouldn't be a problem since the glue dries clear. After I used my one bottle of Revlon's glue in white, I decided I wanted to try a new kind. They had one at my work place that was in a tube and not in a brush tip. That is what I am currently using, and it's actually not too bad. The only thing is that sometimes, it's hard to control the amount of glue coming out of the tube. One thing that is better about this and worse about the brush tip one is that the glue tends to get on the lid and it would just get really messy (I don't know how else to explain it haha).
In conclusion............... they all have pros and cons, and it's hard for me to say which one I like better.
A girl who tweezes their eyebrows know how important a tweezer is, and how important it is for the tweezer to work well. So the other day, I was at work and it was really bothering me that I haven't been able to clean up around my eyebrows for a while and I came to a conclusion that I was just going to use the tweezer that we have at our store, and just buy it when my coworker comes. So I opened one up, and started plucking around my eyebrows to keep the shape. I did not even expect much from these tweezers because I didn't think it would work that well. But believe it or not, I was astonished at how well it worked! I hate tweezers that don't work well because then what's the point of having it or attempting to tweeze? Haha so I discovered that our shop's tweezers were super satisfactory for me, and I am very happy about this purchase and discovery.
Now you are wondering, what in the world is that thing. I know, because that's what I thought when my mom first gave this to me. It was a gift from one of my mom's friends, and it is a oil blotting rolling ball (I don't know if that's the actual name of it but that's what I would like to say it is).
Wow, how cool is that. Apparently it's made of some sort of volcanic clay thing that rolls when you roll that over your face, and it is supposed to suck up the oils of your face. So...let's just say it's a cool version of an oil blotting paper and not as "wasteful" as an oil blotting paper. I really like the idea, but the only thing that I've found annoying is that because it's round and not super small, it's hard to get it through the oiliest part of my face, which is the creases(?) by my nose. But it works for my forehead and the rest of my face, which is interesting.
Next up is a nose pack from my work. A lot of people come for our Volcanic Clay nose strips. Those are a little more convenient, if you're lazy. I've tried a few of those, and I actually thought they were cool and worked a little. I wouldn't say it works super well, but it definitely removed some of my whiteheads on my nose. I decided to try out this nose pack, but honestly, I don't know if that was a good choice or not. Not to say that the product is bad or that it doesn't work, but my mom told me that if you do this too much, your pores can get bigger. I should've just stuck to doing the strips once in a while, instead of getting this tube and feeling like I have to use it because I paid for it and it's a waste if I don't use it. But at the same time, how will you ever venture out and see what works for you and what doesn't work for you if you don't take chances and risks in purchasing products? I guess I'm just trying to be positive about it. Haha. So what I found to be super cool about this, is that when it dries up and you peel it off, it feels just like the peel off strips. I didn't think it was going to have that "rough" feel, but wow, it does. I think this is going to be good for people that like that kind of a feeling, but I wouldn't say that this is the best buy for myself.
I would have to say that this is one of the coolest items that we have at our shop. This is a cooling foot mist, that is supposed to help reduce the smell of our stinky feet. I decided I wanted to try it out not necessarily for my feet directly, but for my shoes. I think all women who've owned flats will agree with me--flats get stinky. There is no ventilation for our feel when we are wearing them, and I would have to say...nobody's feet smells like heaven. Some people are sweatier than others as well, causing more of a stink. So far, it has been helping a little. I wouldn't be able to say that it works super well, but I think this does reduce the smell a little, making it a little more bearable than before.
When it comes to my hair and taking care of it, it's definitely a part that I try to do better all the time. People tell me that I have really nice hair, but in all honesty, my hair has been not so great lately. It's all the dying of the hair that has ruined my hair, and if I want to keep my hair as "nice" as I can for a long time, it's going to require me to actually take care of my hair using treatments, oils, etc. So this is kind of a new product we have at our shop, it's a quick spray treatment that you use in place of your conditioner. I seriously love how it's a spray type, making it super convenient and easy to use. I love the smell of it as well, and I actually like using this over my conditioner. The conditioner that I am currently using doesn't seem to do to well for me, because I feel like I'm stripped of all of my hair oils when I use them. So I've been using this in place of my conditioner almost everyday. And because it's a quick one, you don't need to wait like 10 to 15 minutes that you usually have to when using a treatment but just wash off right away. If you're into trying out new hair products, you should try this one out.
*** One other tip that I have about taking care of hair, is using argan oil for your hair. I had previously purchased argan oil serum from our shop (it was featured in one of my very first blogposts of this blog) that I tried using but didn't really work out because I tried using it on dry hair. My hair gets oily fast around the scalp area, and so I need to avoid getting oil on those parts of my hair. Because of the whole "oil and water doesn't mix" thing that you learn in school, I had thought that it would just work best if you put on the oil on dry hair. I recently tried it on wet hair, I don't really know why I decided to do that, and wow. It was a whole new world. It's been a few days since I started doing that (almost a week now), and I've been doing that everyday. I would wash my hair, and then brush it, and then pump out some oil on my hand and run it through my wet hair. My hair stays soft throughout the day, instead of getting tangled like it used to. It doesn't even have to be one from my work, but I do definitely suggest and recommend using oil to revive your hair (especially the tips) if you feel that your hair is too damaged! And don't forget--apply it on wet hair because it works a lot better.
I know this has so far been a pretty long post, but I am having fun typing this up and I do hope that you readers will enjoy it as well and find it informative. This is the last product I would like to introduce to you guys today. This is also a newer addition to the hand lotions that we carry at The Faceshop. There are five different scents: apple pop, tiare, rose, green tea, and berry mix. As you can see above, I purchased the apple pop one because that was my favorite out of all of them. When I was younger, I used to really like fruity smells and strong scents. As I am aging a little now, I realized my love for fruity smells and strong scents have pretty much gone away. I am finding myself really liking subtle scents that are more refreshing than fruity. This is just $6, and I don't really know if that's cheap or expensive for a hand lotion, but the smell is excellent, and it's also a great gift item for your friends and loved ones.
